NZGA Submission: Draft Geothermal Strategy

The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) released the New Zealand Government's Draft Geothermal Strategy, "From the Ground Up" during the NZGA Winter Seminar, part of NZ Geothermal Week 2025. Upon delivering the document, Minister Shane Jones emphasised that the targets outlined in the strategy were only achievable with input and leadership from the geothermal community.
As such, the New Zealand Geothermal Association prepared this submission, providing tangible, realistic steps towards maximising geothermal's role in future energy solutions.
The NZGA would like to thank its members and colleagues who contributed towards this submission, and looks forward to the release of the final Geothermal Strategy in due course.
